Title I Notice
Honey Dew Elementary is a Title I School. As such, families receive an annual notification of their Title I rights and the complaint process.

Honey Dew Elementary is committed to the Renton School District goal of providing high quality instruction and learning for every child, every day in every classroom and environment. We know that this can only be done through partnerships with parents and the community. We cannot do the job alone. Parents play an extremely important role as children’s first teachers.
The following strategies will be used during the school year to increase family involvement at Honey Dew Elementary:
- At our annual Back-to-School Night, Title I, Part A requirements, will be explained to parents along with other school information. Parents will also receive this information through newsletters and regularly scheduled meetings.
- As part of our ongoing school improvement process, parents will be invited to participate in the planning, review, and improvement of the school plan, as well as our parent-teacher compact.
- We will keep parents informed about the school curriculum, academic assessments, and expected student proficiency levels in a timely manner through our publications, report cards, and parent conferences.
- Our school staff will be available and respond to parents through meetings or by telephone, email, or other written format. We will make every effort to provide written translation or interpreters if needed.
- We will provide activities and events to involve parents in their child’s academic growth, such as Parent/Teacher Conferences, family workshops including “Talking to Children About Race” (in partnership with Cultures Connecting), Coffee with the Principal events, and the end of year family event.
- All parents are welcome and are encouraged to volunteer in their students’ school and classroom or on field trips. In order to ensure student safety, all volunteers who work with students must complete the Washington State Patrol form.
